Corry Evans made his return for Northern Ireland on Friday night in a narrow 1-0 loss to Uruguay.
The Rovers midfielder hadn't featured for Ireland since picking up an ankle ligament injury back in October whilst on international duty, but played all but three minutes in front of 50,000 fans in Montevideo.
It was a hardworking display from the Irish as they kept the World Cup hopefuls at bay for long periods, eventually relenting in the 62nd minute as Christian Stuani steered home a close-range effort.
Chile are Northern Ireland's next opponents on Wednesday. The two sides meet up in Valparaiso.
