Gary Bowyer was full of praise for striker Rudy Gestede after his goalscoring display against Watford on Tuesday night.

The Benin international rescued a point for Rovers with an injury-time equaliser, powering a bullet of a header in off the post in the 93rd minute for his fifth goal in Rovers colours.

It wasn't just his goalscoring antics that impressed the manager, but his all-round forward play against the Hornets.

"Rudy Gestede was unplayable, he caused them problems all night," Bowyer told Rovers Player.

"It was a fantastic header and one that was thoroughly deserved.

"You saw it against Leicester, you've seen it against Man City. We've seen glimpses of it and he just keeps getting fitter and stronger.

"We are looking for him to finish the season on a high, there are nine games left and hopefully he can get to double figures."

The Rovers manager feels that the arrival of Gestede and Craig Conway, both from Cardiff City, have added a new dimension to the squad.

"It has been a great bit of business," added Bowyer. "If you look at the transfer fees that we paid for them and the impact that they've made, they are fantastic assets to the club.

"They've increased in value already with their performances and their contribution has been massive.

"They are only going to get better, they are only going to get fitter and stronger, a great bit of business by the club."
