A hectic few days for Feeney

12 March 2014

Liam Feeney is looking forward to facing his former club at Ewood Park this evening.

The winger, who has joined Rovers on loan until the end of the season, comes up against an AFC Bournemouth side where he spent three happy seasons at, making over 120 appearances.

"I'm indebted to them and the manager who is there now," said Feeney. "He gave me my chance and I had a great couple of years under him.

"The club is close to my heart and I'm glad to see them doing so well after years of financial difficulties that they had when I was there.

"That is all changed and it is good to see them doing well in the Championship.

"We had a couple of good years against the odds, it was a really good time in my career so it will be good to play against them."

For the midfielder it has been a hectic few days. Signed on Saturday morning, he was immediately thrust into the white hot atmosphere of an East Lancashire derby on the Sunday.

And although Rovers didn't get the required result, Feeney is pleased that they get an immediate chance to get back to winning ways.

"It has been pretty hectic to be honest," added the midfielder. "I got a late notice that I was coming here on loan and then straight into probably the biggest game of the season, which was exciting.

"It wasn't the result that we wanted, we were all disappointed with the game on Sunday, the fans, the players, but we've got an opportunity now to turn it around and hopefully get it back on track.

"The Championship is relentless and I'm sure if we pick up a couple of good results in the next week or two then we'll be forgiven a little but it won't be forgotten.

"We can't have a hangover from the weekend, we've to use it as a positive to push forward and get a win on Wednesday."
