Steve Lyons can’t wait for the new season to start, after being presented with the third Golden Ticket!
The 58-year-old, from Blackburn, was nominated for the highly sought-after prize by his son Matt, who is emigrating to Australia.
Following Matt’s decision to move to Melbourne and the passing of his granddad Jack, Steve was faced with the prospect of attending matches on his own, but now hopes to invite another family friend along with him to Ewood Park.
“What can you say, it’s superb – a really nice gesture,” said Steve, who has been a season ticket holder since 1998.
“It’s an excellent idea by the club and I think it’s been really well received by the fans. I have to say that last year, in terms of just going to games, was the best year we’ve had in a long time. Seeing those young lads trying their guts out, you can’t ask for any more than that and I’m really looking forward to the coming season.”
Rovers will be giving away a Golden Ticket every day this week and 20 in total to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Premiership-title winning season in 1994-95.
