Jimmy Quinn famously fired Northern Ireland to the 1986 World Cup, but then failed to make an appearance at the tournament.
The Belfast-born striker, whose winning goal against Romania in Northern Ireland’s penultimate qualifier helped booked their place in the finals, was included in the squad for Mexico 86, but was never given his chance to shine.
Northern Ireland ended up finishing joint bottom of Group D, having drawn 1-1 with Algeria, before losing 2-1 to Spain and 3-0 to Brazil.
Quinn won 46 caps for his country, scoring 12 times, and made 84 appearances for Rovers between 1984 and 1986.
Argentina went on to win the tournament, beating Germany 3-2 in the final.
