Rovers will start the 2014-15 Sky Bet Championship season at home to Cardiff City.

The Welsh outfit, who lifted the Championship trophy in 2013 but were then relegated from the Premier League last season, will visit Ewood Park on Saturday August 9th.

Gary Bowyer’s side then host League One new boys Scunthorpe United in the first round of the Capital One Cup in midweek, before making a trip to the seaside for their first away game of the season against local rivals Blackpool on Saturday August 16th.

Rovers fans will have much further to travel three days later, taking on relegated Norwich City at Carrow Road on Tuesday August 19th.

September sees back-to-back home games against last season’s play-off contenders Wigan Athletic and Derby County, followed by a trip to the final team to drop out of the top flight, Fulham.

Rovers will visit all three newly-promoted clubs during the first half of the season – Wolves on Saturday August 30th, Rotherham United on Tuesday September 30th and Brentford on Saturday December 13th.

The festive fixtures see Charlton Athletic visit Ewood Park on Saturday December 20th, Rovers then make the short journey to the Reebok to take on Bolton Wanderers on Boxing Day, before returning to base for a meeting with Middlesbrough on Sunday December 28th.

There are currently no New Year fixtures, with the third round of the FA Cup taking place on Saturday January 3rd.

League One champions Wolves will be Rovers’ first league opponents of 2015 on Saturday January 10th.

In a busy end to the season, Rovers play six games in April, taking on Leeds United and Millwall over Easter weekend, before concluding their campaign back at Ewood Park against Ipswich Town on Saturday May 2nd.
