10 July 2014

Last few places remaining for students to get signed up!

Would you like the opportunity to represent Blackburn Rovers Football Club, receive a first class education and to watch the first team for free?

In September 2014, if you are aged between 16 and 18, then you can be a part of an exciting and unique one or two-year Futsal Education Scholarship through The Football League Trust - in partnership with TVS, who provide learning opportunities for young people through sport.

Each person who joins Rovers' Futsal Education Scholarship will receive a Blackburn Rovers season ticket for the 2014/15 SkyBet Championship season, courtesy of the Community Trust*.

Open to boys (female courses coming soon!), learners will be given the opportunity to compete for Rovers in The Football League Trust Futsal League against the likes of local rivals Burnley as well as Chelsea, Hull City, Leicester City, Southampton, WBA, Derby County, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Blackpool, Preston North End, Accrington Stanley and dozens more.

Alongside this, learners taking part in the scholarship - which is based at the club’s Ewood Park Stadium - will be participating in a full-time education package, which includes:

- BTEC Level 2 in Sport or a Level 3 Extended Diploma, worth up to three A-Levels
- Opportunity for vocational qualifications, such as Level 1 Football Coaching and Level 1 Futsal Coaching

So whether you want to open the door to university, or a career in coaching, a Futsal Education Scholarship with Blackburn Rovers Football Club could be the right option for you.

Blackburn Rovers Head of Community Gary Robinson, said of the Futsal Education Scholarship: “This is a once in a life time opportunity for anyone in September 2014 who is aged 16 to 18 to play for the club that they love, Blackburn Rovers, in a national Futsal league while continuing their education via a BTEC Sport course.

“They will be coached by ex-professional and academy footballers who can pass on their personal experience and knowledge of the game at its highest levels and will also be training up students as football coaches to represent the Club’s community trust.”

A special recruitment day is set to take place at Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre (BRIC) between 3pm and 8pm on Wednesday 18th June 2014. Our course leaders will be available to speak to any individual or parents interested in our courses on the hour, every hour between these times.
