More important minutes

31 July 2014

Gary Bowyer was pleased with how ten-man Rovers performed in the draw with Bury on Wednesday night.

The first half saw both sides have goals ruled out for offside before Lee Williamson received his marching orders for an over-the-ball tackle on Ryan Lowe.

The Shakers took the lead when Daniel Nardiello nodded home with just under 20 minutes to go, but Jordan Rhodes levelled the scores from the spot after Josh King had been felled five minutes from time.

"I thought the game was a great workout for us," said the Rovers boss.

"I thought the first 45 minutes we played some cracking stuff and kept the ball particularly well.

"I think you then saw the spirit and the character of the lads when we went down to ten men and I thought we did ever so well.

"Their goal is offside but to then come back and get the penalty, I thought there was some mammoth efforts from our lads tonight.

"It was the first 90 minutes so we are really pleased with that."

Rovers play their final pre-season friendly this Sunday when Stoke City are the visitors to Ewood Park in the 3.00pm kick-off.

Tickets will be on sale up to kick-off on the day of the game, priced from £12 Adults, £8 Seniors/17-21yrs and £3 Juniors under 17s. Book online today at www.onerovers.co.uk and collect your tickets from the Blackburn End collection point on the day of the game.
