Tommy Spurr was pleased to get his first taste of match action this pre-season as Rovers drew 0-0 with Bradford City on Saturday.
The Rovers defender hadn't featured this summer due to injury but played the first half in the goalless draw at the Coral Windows Stadium.
"I'm just glad to get back out there and get 45 minutes under my belt," said Spurr post-match.
"It has been a pretty frustrating pre-season so far with picking up a groin strain the day before we actually started. I'd gone in and did a little bit of training on my own, struck a ball and felt it.
"But I've been lucky in that I've still been able to do straight line running so I've kept myself reasonably fit.
"I trained a couple of times this week, and played today. I feel alright, so I'm happy to get 45 minutes."
They were testing conditions at a hot and humid Valley Parade, but Spurr believes it'll be good preparation for the season ahead.
"It was hot out there and obviously tough conditions," added the defender. "But it might be like that for the first few games of the new season.
"So it is good to get fitness work out of it and get used to playing and relationships on the pitch again, that is probably the main thing to get out of it."
Spurr is expected to step up his match fitness this Wednesday when Rovers take on Bury at the JD Stadium, kick-off 7.45pm.
Tickets for the Bury match are currently on sale from the Roverstore at Ewood, the Oneroverstore in Blackburn town centre and online at www.onerovers.co.uk. Fans can also pay on the night of the game at the turnstiles. Price are £10 Adults, £5 concessions.
