Gary Bowyer feels the way Rovers ended the last campaign will stand them in good stead going into the new season.
The Rovers boss believes that the mood at the club is a buoyant, but they have to build on what they achieved last season to have a successful Championship campaign.
"The way that we finished last season, the momentum that we had and the atmosphere around Ewood and the football club compare it to 12 months ago and the place is a different place, that is credit to the all the staff and the players for changing that," said Bowyer.
"We've now got to build on that, we've laid the foundations, it is now about having the right mentality to kick on."
After their 12-match unbeaten run to the end of the 2013-14 season Rovers are one of the favourites for promotion this time around, but the manager knows it is all about focusing on what they do and to improve on last season's displays.
"We have to manage that expectation but we focused on the processes last year that got us the results and that is what we'll be doing this season," added Bowyer.
"We've got to strive to continuously improve, that was the message that was said to the players in the first team meeting on Wednesday when they were back in.
"We can't rest on what we did last season, we'll use the momentum from last season, but we all - staff included - have got to reflect on the experience of last year and build on that."
