Bantams next for Bowyer's boys

25 July 2014

Gary Bowyer expects to give more game time to his senior squad when they face Bradford City at the Coral Windows Stadium on Saturday.

The majority of the first team got an hour under their belts in the midweek draw with Accrington Stanley, with the boss likely to extend that against the Bantams.

"We've got to step it up again on Saturday against Bradford and then we've Bury and Stoke City." said Bowyer.

"It is a busy week for us, they are coming thick and fast now and that is great because no disrespect to pre-season games but you want the real thing.

"It has all been planned in terms of where you start and where you finish. We finish at home to a Premier League side in Stoke."

Tommy Spurr, Chris Brown and Rudy Gestede are all likely to feature against Phil Parkinson's side. Spurr and Brown haven't featured yet this pre-season due to minor knocks, whilst Gestede missed the match against Accrington due to international commitments.

"I see all three of them featuring so we are looking forward to that," added the Rovers boss.

"It'll be good to get used to playing with a big man again whether it be Browny or Rudy. That gives us the flexibility to mix our game up and play different styles.

"We know we've got to keep on improving but everything is going nicely at the moment and over the next couple of weeks we'll step it up even more."

Tickets for the friendly at the Coral Windows Stadium will be on sale at Ewood until 4pm this Friday. After that they'll be on sale on the day of the game at Bradford, cash only from the turnstiles on Midland Road from 1.30pm.

Prices are £10 Adults, £5 Seniors aged 60 and over, Students with a valid NUS/Student card, and Under 16s.
