A worthwhile trip

22 July 2014

The first team staff are back at Brockhall this week after a hardworking seven days in Portugal.

The players were put through their paces in soaring temperatures at the squad's training camp in the Algarve.

Boss Gary Bowyer was delighted with the squad's enthusiasm and application, and knows that the hard work put in now will pay off as the season gets underway next month.

"We went to Portugal and had a fantastic week," said the manager.

"The lads were doing unbelievable amount of physical work and football work. Living in each others pocket so to speak for a week has made the group really tight.

"We are really pleased with how it has gone, the warm weather training out there makes it even harder for the players but fortunately we've brought that weather back with us!

"Again we've worked them hard today and they know that with the games coming up they might be a little bit leggy but that is all part of their preparation. It is the mental side for them to take the challenge on.

"We've got to keep preparing properly with a game tomorrow against Accrington, some will play in that."

Supporters can pay on the day at Accrington, admission prices are £15 Adults, £10 Over 65s/Students and £5 for Under 17s.
