Unlucky not to win - Lowe

6 January 2014

Jason Lowe felt that the FA Cup draw with Manchester City was a real team effort.

Rovers more than held their own against last year's losing finalists, Scott Dann's 55th minute strike cancelling out Alvaro Negredo's opener on the stroke of half-time as the game ended 1-1.

The Championship club were the ones pressing for a winner in the end, and the midfielder believes the lads can take huge heart from their display.

“We were under no illusions that it was going to be a tough, tough game," said Lowe. “But anything can happen on the day as we proved away at Arsenal last year.

“We’ve done it before so we went into the game full of confidence. It was a game where I didn’t think we had a lot to lose as nobody gave us a chance.

“We went out there with a game plan and I thought we were very, very unlucky not to win.”

Rovers' reward for their performance is a 3rd round replay at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 15th July, a match the former England Under-21 international feels Rovers can take a huge amount of confidence into, despite City's impressive home record this season.

Lowe added: “I think they’re averaging three goals a game there!

“It’ll be another tough game but we’ll go there with confidence and we’ll try and get the win. It’ll be a good test to have.”

Lowe and Rovers are back in action at Ewood Park this Saturday when Doncaster Rovers are the visitors. Tickets are currently on open sale priced from just £15 Adults, £10 Seniors and £5 for Under-16s. Book online today at
