After after another impressive display up front for Rovers, manager Gary Bowyer has backed Rudy Gestede to have a successful second half to the season.
The Benin international followed up his first goal for the club against Leeds United on New Years Day with a hardworking showing against Premier League title favourites Manchester City as Rovers earned themselves a 3rd round replay with a 1-1 draw.
The striker, who joined the club in a three-and-a-half year deal on Thursday, claimed an assist for Scott Dann's Ewood leveller, powering a header goalwards that Pantilimon couldn't hold.
Speaking to Radio Rovers after the match, manager Gary Bowyer said "I thought Rudy Gestede was outstanding, outstanding up there on his own.
"He's a threat in the opposition's penalty box for sure.
'When we signed him we knew what quality he had and he's starting to show it. He'll only get better, stronger and fitter.
"The goal did him the world of good against Leeds and he's contributed massively today.
"With the second half of the season coming he is going to be a big player for us."
Gestede and Rovers are back in action at Ewood Park this Saturday when Doncaster Rovers are the visitors. Tickets are currently on open sale priced from just £15 Adults, £10 Seniors and £5 for Under-16s. Book online today at www.onerovers.co.uk
