Meet the challenge

3 January 2014

Gary Bowyer wants his young side to relish the opportunity when they face Premier League title-chasers Manchester City at Ewood Park.

The Rovers boss knows that the task will be tough one for the FA Cup with Budweiser 3rd round tie, but he wants the team to rise to the challenge.

"I think only if it had been Manchester City at their place then it would have been a tougher one," Bowyer told Rovers Player.

"You can look at it two ways, you can meet the challenge head on or you can sit back and worry about this player and that year.

"We've decided to go the other way and enjoy it and measure where we are against them and why not."

Bowyer also admits that he has given up trying to predict the City line-up due to their embarrassment of riches.

"It is impossible, totally impossible," added the Rovers boss.

"It was quite comical when us coaching staff were looking through it, if he plays, or if he doesn't play, but in the end it doesn't matter, whoever plays against us is a world class footballer, so it is up to us to go and enjoy that."

Tickets for Saturday's lunchtime match go off sale at 5.30pm this Friday. Database members can call the ticket office on 0871 222 1444 or go online at www.onerovers.co.uk to secure a seat for the big game. The ticket collection point is at the side of the Roverstore at the Blackburn End.
