Gary Bowyer and Grant Hanley both hailed the display of Ben Marshall in the 2-1 win over Leeds United.
After five games in the space of three weeks, Adam Henley was rested for the Roses clash, with Marshall filling in at right back to great effect as Rovers started 2014 with a three point haul.
"I didn't think Ben Marshall would have been as outstanding as he was at right back if I'm being truthful," said boss Bowyer.
"We knew he could do it, but I didn't think he could do it as well as what he did today."
Fellow defender Grant Hanley was also full of praise for the former Leicester City man: "I think Ben is one of those lads that you can put anywhere on the park.
"His ability, he's good physically, you can put him anywhere and he'll do a good job.
"I'm pleased with him today, he showed his quality and what he offers the side."
Rovers are back in action this Saturday when they take on Manchester City in the FA Cup.
Tickets will be on sale to Rovers database members up until the 12.45pm kick-off, priced from £15 Adults, £10 Seniors and £5 Juniors. Book online today at www.onerovers.co.uk.
