Gary Bowyer will leave it as late as possible before deciding whether Paul Robinson, Scott Dann and Jordan Rhodes will be fit to face Nottingham Forest.
Rovers captain Dann, and top scorer Rhodes sat out Wednesday's FA Cup with Budweiser third round replay against Manchester City with groin and foot injuries respectively, but if both train this Friday then they could come into contention for the City Ground clash.
Rovers are also awaiting the results on a scan for Paul Robinson. The Rovers stopper didn't reappear after half-time at the Etihad after feeling his hamstring, but if results are clear then he could feature.
Speaking on Thursday afternoon, the manager said: "Paul has gone for a scan to see the extent of it, he felt he could carry on a bit longer but we took the decision sensibly to just withdraw him.
"We'll see how it settles down, but he's not ruled himself out for Saturday yet that is for sure.
"With Jordan and Scott we are going to have to wait until Friday morning to see where they are at. Jordan hasn't trained yet so we'll see if he can join in."
Corry Evans (ankle) and Todd Kane (thigh) are expected to return to training next week, with Dickson Etuhu making progress in his recovery from an ankle injury.
