Lancashire lads make England squad

26 January 2014

Three promising footballers from Lancashire will showcase their talents at Ewood Park after being named in the English Schools’ FA squad for a prestigious schoolboy international.

Charlie Russell, who lives just a stone’s throw away from Rovers’ Senior Training Centre on Brockhall Village, as well as Preston-based duo Michael Hampson and Ryan Charnley have been included in a 19-player squad for the Centenary Shield match against Scotland on Friday April 11th (kick-off 7pm).

The competition has been running since 1973 and is contested by select boys sides representing the Schoolboy Associations of the home nations.

Ewood last played host to a Centenary Shield fixture in 2007, when England took on Northern Ireland, who are the current holders of the coveted trophy.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions and are available now from the Roverstore (Ewood), Oneroverstore (Blackburn town centre), website or by calling the Ticket Office on 0871 222 1444.
