Gary Bowyer has challenged whoever starts in place of the injured Ben Marshall this evening to prove they are worthy of the place.
Rovers will be without the in-form wideman for an extended spell after Marshall sustained suspected ankle ligament damage in the weekend draw with Derby County.
Whilst Bowyer has bemoaned the loss of Marshall, it now provides a chance for someone else to come in and perform.
"It provides the opportunity for somebody to come in and replace Marshy," said the Rovers boss.
"Whoever it is has got to come in and carry the mantle on from where he left off because he has been outstanding for us.
"It provides a challenge for somebody to come in and fill his boots."
One case in point is the display of Matt Kilgallon. The central defender returned to the starting eleven to make just his sixth start this season at the weekend, performing excellently at the back, much to the delight of his manager.
"Unfortunately for Killa he has had to play a long waiting game but I thought he has outstanding on Saturday," added Bowyer.
"With his defending he made a couple of great blocks and it is his pass to Jordan Rhodes that sets the goal up.
"So he's had to wait, he's got Premier League experience, he's left-sided which enables Grant to go to his right side where he's even more comfortable, so that makes him a better player.
"So we are happy with Killa coming into the team, we've just got to try and get Scott back fit and see where it goes from there."
