Ready for the Royals

20 February 2014

Rovers have an almost fully fit squad to choose from ahead of this Saturday's match away at Reading.

Gary Bowyer's charges were without a game last weekend duty to the FA Cup, but the free week has allowed the players to shake off niggles and knocks.

Speaking on Thursday, the Rovers boss said: "It has been good, we would rather have played but it has given us a chance to clear up a few knocks and get a clean bill of health.

"We've nearly a fully fit squad I think there is only Dickson Etuhu, Josh King and Ben Marshall that are on the injured list at this moment in time."

The first team might not have played but Corry Evans got more game time under his belt for the Under-21s on Monday night.

The Rovers boss was in attendance at Villa Park as the midfielder played 74 minutes against Aston Villa, and whilst Evans is closing in on a return, Bowyer doesn't feel he's ready for a place in the starting XI.

"Corry is going to be like a new signing for us," said Bowyer. "He has only made six appearances for this season.

"But we can't expect too much too soon, he has been out for four months.

"I went and watched him play on Monday for the Reserves at Aston Villa and he still need a few more games before he is at the level to compete regularly at first team level.

"He's more than capable in coming off the bench and doing little stints here and there."

Tickets for the Reading match will go off sale at Ewood at 4pm on Friday. Supporters should note that whilst tickets are available at the Madejski on the day of the game, prices will rise. Full ticket information can be found here.
