Great to have that winning feeling

5 February 2014

Matt Kilgallon was delighted Rovers got back to winning ways at the weekend with the 2-0 home win over Blackpool.

The Rovers man admitted that the previous two draws against Derby County and Barnsley were something of a disappointment to the squad, so to get another three points on the board was especially pleasing, however the experienced defender knows the side can do better.

Speaking to Radio Rovers after Saturday's win, Kilgallon said: "We got two draws and we were a little bit disappointed with that, but then you get the win and them two points look good.

"I thought we played some good football again, we've got a lot of talent out there so we've got to keep going, we've got a good chance."

Kilgallon admits that there is frustration amongst the squad is their inability to turn chances into goals.

Like Tuesday's draw at Barnsley, Saturday's win against Blackpool was made all the more difficult by not converting the chances created. Rovers lead comfortably through David Dunn's first half strike, but it wasn't until Grant Hanley's header seven minutes from time that the game was put to bed.

"Tuesday night felt like a defeat even though it was 2-2, we were that gutted because we know how good we can be," admitted Kilgallon.

"Against Blackpool again we played good football but we made it hard for ourselves halfway through the second half because we aren't clinical enough.

"We've got so much talent in there that is why it is frustrating.

"It will come, they are great on the ball them forward lads and it is nice to watch sometimes from the back."

Three unbeaten in the league, Rovers travel to Middlesbrough on Saturday looking to extend that to four, something Kilgallon knows they will have to do to rise up the table.

"We've been in this position, just off the play-offs, when we've just needed that win and we haven't done it," added the defender.

"It is a good chance to do it this time, Middlesbrough are doing well and we'll go there really trying to get this run together."
