A pleasing performance

4 February 2014

David Dunn was delighted to get back amongst the goals and play his part as Rovers returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Blackpool.

The 34-year-old attacker scored a superb solo goal to set Rovers on their way to a comfortable home victory over the Seasiders.

Whilst Dunny was pleased to score his third of the season, he was just as delighted that Rovers registered another home win.

Speaking to Radio Rovers, Dunn said: "It is pleasing to get on the scoresheet and pleasing to be starting the last two games.

"I'm pleased with how things are going with our performances and more importantly it is good to get the three points that we really needed."

Dunn doesn't feel that recent displays have registered the required number of points their performances have merited, with the side unable to convert more of the chances that have been created.

But he believes that in time the young side will improve on that aspect of their play.

"Perhaps we should kill teams off a little bit earlier," added Dunn. "That is something we will no doubt work on. But I am really pleased to get the three points and hopefully we can go on this run that we need to go on.

"I think that we've shown in the last couple of weeks that we need to be a little bit more ruthless but I am sure that will come with experience and the more times that they get out there.

"There is no question of some of the lads abilities, so we've just got to try and work on their mentality side of things. Not just the young lads, I think we are all guilty of it at times as well.

"At times we played some good stuff, we looked the better team, but I think we can play a little bit more at times.

"It was great to go two up and get that cushion as you'd have been very disappointed if we had only got a point."

Rovers and Dunn are back in action next Saturday when they take on Middlesbrough at the Riverside. Tickets are currently on open sale priced at £27 Adults, £17 Seniors and £14 for Under 18s. Book online today at
