Tactics worked to a tee

Alex Baptiste felt the change in formation worked wonders as Rovers returned to winning ways at the weekend.

Rovers played a midfield diamond for the match against Charlton Athletic at Ewood Park running out comfortable 2-0 winners.

The Rovers defender felt it was one the their better performances this season, and was just the reaction needed following recent defeats.

"I think that is the best that we have played this year," Baptiste told Radio Rovers. "In the first half I thought we were excellent.

"The gaffer wasn't happy with the previous two results and we changed formation a little bit. The way we kept the ball and the way we were after them when we didn't have the ball - the first half especially - I thought we were different class.

"It was all down to the tactics, the coaching staff really got us this win. We've been working on this since Wednesday this formation and the way the lads worked off the ball was fantastic.

"We got after them, we got the ball back as quickly as we could and our hard work paid off.

"It was a team effort, it starts with Rudy and Jordan and we just back them up. The performance that we put in was the most pleasing thing for me.

"Now we've got to make sure that we do that against Bolton. It is the first Boxing Day that i'll have missed in ten years, so it'll be a shame that I can't play but I'll be there cheering the lads on."
