Hard work is the answer

Boss Gary Bowyer knows Rovers have to do more to stop conceding silly goals.

The 3-1 loss at the hands of Brentford on Saturday meant that Rovers have now conceded 31 goals in 21 games this season, a record the manager is far from impressed with.

"We are conceding too many soft goals," admitted Bowyer. "It isn't like we are being undone by fantastic goals or anything like that, we've just got to be brighter and cuter in our defending.

"We win as a team, we attack as a team, and we defend as a team. You can't come away from home and concede three goals and expect to win the game.

"There is no magic formula or anything like that, we've just got to be more ruthless in our defending and ruthless up front.

"We'll go away and we'll have to work very hard on it, it is as simple as that. We are going to have to go and work very very hard and get ready for Charlton."

Back-to-back defeats has seen Rovers slip out of the play-off spots, but with more than half the season still to play, the manager isn't overly concerned just yet.

Bowyer added: "When we went on a very good run we weren't getting carried away and we won't do the same again now just because we've lost two on the trot.

"We understand that there is a hell of a lot more football to play, we are in December so there is a long way to go.

"But we've got to work hard and get back to doing what we do well."

Rovers return to Ewood Park this Saturday for their pre-Christmas clash with Charlton Athletic.
