Gary Bowyer was delighted to see Rovers return to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.

A first half brace from Jordan Rhodes saw Rovers claim all three points as the striker took his tally for the season to nine.

Rovers controlled proceedings for long periods, the only disappointment for the manager was they didn't have more goals to show for their dominance.

"The players were excellent," Bowyer told Radio Rovers. "They came out fighting.

"The manner of the first half performance, our pressing game was excellent. We get the first goal and we could have scored before that.

"I think the only negative of the first half was that we only scored twice, we were excellent, we were dominant.

"We are delighted Jordan and Rudy and then the contribution of the other two that came on up top Dunny and Kingy.

"We've said all along that we've got goals in the team but more importantly today we got the clean sheet - we've been desperate for that.

"It sets us up nicely for a local derby against Bolton on Boxing Day."
