Rovers Under-21s and Padiham played out a goalless draw in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon.
It was a match where goalmouth opportunities were at a premium as Rovers had the better of the first half, with the hosts improving after the break.
The best opportunities fell to England youth striker Dean Rittenberg early on, a shot on the turn after nine minutes whistled passed the upright, before the forward was denied by a clearance off the line after he had beaten the goalkeeper.
Midway through the second half the home side saw a goal ruled out for offside, before Modou Cham hit an effort straight at the Padiham 'keeper when well placed. Then Rittenberg fired narrowly over as both sides pressed for a winner.
Two chances in the final ten minutes for Padiham came and went. A header was deflected narrowly over, then from the resulting corner kick the home side just failed to hit the target.
ROVERS: Raya (sub Crump 71 mins), Carson (sub Adams 54 mins), Lenihan, Lavelle, Doyle, Green (sub Paulo Jorge 71 mins), Daly, Bauress, Cham, Rittenberg, Slew (sub Preston 61 mins).
Eric Kinder's side get their Barclays Under 21 Premier League campaign underway on Monday 18th August away at Brighton & Hove Albion.
