Ladies up for the cup!

30 August 2014

Rovers Ladies will be eager to get back to winning ways when they face Stoke City in the determining round of the FA Women’s Premier League Cup this Sunday.

After an unbeaten pre-season, Gemma Donnelly's side lost their opening league match of the season last weekend as Huddersfield Town came from behind to win 3-2.

The Ladies manager knows it won't be easy against the Potters, but is eager to do well in the cup to help build confidence for the league campaign.

"It is a competition that we would like to progress in," said Donnelly.

"Stoke will be tough opposition as they'll be in a buoyant mood following their win against Nottingham Forest on the opening day.

"It will be a challenge for us as Stoke are a strong team and very physical, but it is a game we are all looking forward to."

Rovers Ladies are boosted by the return to the squad of goalkeeper Jo Hutcheson,  midfielder Jess Holbrook could make her debut, whilst Nicky Twohig hopes to have shaken off a knock to feature.

Sunday's match takes place at Stone Dominoes FC, kick-off 2.00pm.
