Under-21s boss Eric Kinder felt a draw was the fair result after it ended 1-1 between Rovers and Aston Villa at Leigh Sports Village on Monday night.
It looked like Modou Cham's 23rd minute strike was going to be enough to see Rovers claim all three points until an injury-time equaliser from Villa's Jordan Graham.
It had been an entertaining match between two attacking sides, with Kinder satisfied with the outcome.
"I think if I'm being fair and honest the draw was the right result," Kinder told Rovers Player post-match.
"You always thought they were going to nick one, but when it comes in the 94th minute it is always disappointing.
"There are a lot of disappointed lads in there and that shows how much work we've done and how far we've come since last year. We are all upset because we've drawn 1-1 with Aston Villa.
"I was delighted with them, we looked together, we stuck together and we had a right good go.
"I'm delighted with the start to the season that we've had, we've got to continue this good work now."
The Under-21s aren't back in action until Tuesday 9th September when they face Preston North End at Brockhall in the 1st round of the Lancashire Senior Cup. Kick-off 1.30pm.
