Gary Bowyer believes Rovers supporters have yet to see the best of Ben Marshall after his return to the starting line-up last week.
Last Saturday's 3-2 win over AFC Bournemouth saw a first league start for the former Leicester City man since January 2014 as an ankle ligament injury sidelined the star for the remainder of last season.
The Rovers boss was pleased with the performance of the midfielder on his league return and has challenged him to keep on improving to retain his place in the eleven.
"Over the last couple of weeks he has really stepped up a gear and that is full credit to him," Bowyer told Rovers Player.
"He brings the quality in the final third which is always the most difficult area to execute. We were also mightily impressed with his work-rate as well going the other way because he was disciplined in that.
"The challenge now is to go on again and to contribute with some goals and keep on improving.
"We haven't seen the best of him for sure, I think there is a hell of a lot more to come from him."
