Rovers Under-18s get their season underway this weekend with one of the toughest challenges the league can offer.
David Lowe's side start the new season with a home match against Manchester City, with the Rovers coach very much looking forward to the game.
The young Rovers have had a mixed set of results this pre-season, but Lowe feels the side are well prepared for the challenge ahead.
"Pre-season has been very good overall," said the Under-18s coach. "From a development point of view it has been excellent. Physically, psychologically, tactically and technically.
"The lads have been a fantastic bunch to work with, I'm sure every member of staff has really enjoyed working with them.
"Results have been patchy, but we have to remember it is all about developing players for the Under-21s and the first team."
Lowe has lost several Academy regulars to Eric Kinder's development squad over the summer, but believes that Saturday's match at Brockhall is a game his young side should embrace.
"It is a tremendous opportunity for our lads to be playing an Academy like Manchester City's," added Lowe.
"We've lost a few boys to the Under-21s but that is what it is all about, so it will be a young squad and a great experience for them playing against older boys.
"Manchester City u18s don't come much tougher, but at the end of the day it is about testing themselves and they'll certainly get that.
"We are all really looking forward to it, it is a challenge for every single one of us."
Kick-off at Brockhall is at 11am, all supporters are welcome.
