Gary Bowyer hailed the display of defenders Jason Lowe and Alex Baptiste in the 2-1 win over Blackpool on Saturday.
After Matt Kilgallon missed out through injury, Rovers had to shuffle their defence with Lowe playing at right back and Baptiste in the centre.
The manager was full of praise for the pair: "I thought the back four were outstanding, Jason Lowe in particular, he was magnificent, as was Alex Baptiste coming back here.
"That's a back four that was thrown together in the second half at Cardiff, they've done ever so well.
"Jason Lowe will play anywhere for Blackburn Rovers. He's come through the Academy, he's been with us for years and years. He loves the club, he'll do anything for us.
"I thought Alex was excellent. He plied his trade here at Blackpool as a centre half for a long time, and played in the Premier League there as well.
"We knew that when we were bringing him to the club that he could play there but we didn't think it would be so soon.
"He's done ever so well, I'm delighted for him because he's coming back to his old club."
