U21s finish with Hammers test

11 April 2014

Rovers' development squad end their Barclays Under-21 Premier League campaign this Friday afternoon away at West Ham United.

Eric Kinder's young charges will want to end the campaign on a high after a difficult season for the Under-21s.

Last time out the youngsters performed admirably to twice come from two-goals down to earn a share of the spoils in a 3-3 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers, and they'll need to show the same spirit and determination against a Hammers side looking for a top-half finish.

With the Under-21 league splitting into two for the 2014/15 campaign, Rovers know they will be in the lower division for next season, whilst Friday's opponents have ambitions for the top division.

With the first team in action at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, Kinder has named a similar squad to the one that played at Leigh Sports Village on Monday evening, with the majority of the team drawn from the Academy.

For the home side, they include Joe Cole amongst their starting eleven.

WEST HAM: Howes, Knoyle, Fanimo, Whitehead, Potts, Harney, Lletget, Cullen, Brown, Cole, Sadlier.

Subs: Burke, Guzman, Mavila, Bywater, Nasha.

ROVERS: Raya, Doyle, Beesley, Tanner, Laing, Lenihan (c), Green, Bauress, Preston, Laidler, Wall.

Subs: Rittenberg, Urwin, Lavelle, Pero, Tumwa.

Kick-off at Rush Green is at 2.00pm.
