Gary Bowyer saluted the performance of Tommy Spurr after his goal helped Rovers secure a 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night.
Rovers kept pace with the teams chasing a coveted play-off place with a confident display against a Harry Redknapp side almost assured of a top six finish.
Rudy Gestede fired Rovers in front with a 25-yard thunderbolt, before defender Spurr grabbed his third goal of the campaign with a well struck shot that beat Robert Green at his near post minutes into the second half. A goal that his manager was delighted with.
"He knows that it is an area of his game that he's spoke about improving," Bowyer told Radio Rovers after the match.
"Full credit to Tommy, he's been a magnificent signing for us. A free transfer in the summer, he gives us everything that he's got.
"His throw is a weapon and a half and he's focussed on improving his game further.
"His attacking side of it is improving ever so much."
Rovers are back in action this Saturday when they take on Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
