Ladies lose basement battle

21 April 2014

Rovers Ladies let a two-goal half-time lead slip, as they lost 4-2 at home to fellow strugglers Wolves.

Goals from Nichol Forster and Steph Hardy put Rovers in complete control, but Wolves hit back with four unanswered goals after the break to secure the win, which leaves Rovers at the foot of the Northern Division table.

Rovers enjoyed plenty of possession early on, creating several chances, before opening the scoring on 11 minutes. Evie Manning was brought down inside the box and Forster made no mistake from the spot.

The hosts then doubled their advantage a minute before the break when Hardy headed home from a corner.

However, with the wind in their favour, Wolves were a different proposition after the interval, scoring three times in 10-minute intervals.

Rovers switched off early on, conceding on 48 minutes through Dominique Luke and it went downhill from there on.

Laura McQuilkin and Danielle Selmes then both got on the scoresheet, before Leila Hopkins completed the turnaround late on.

ROVERS: Hutcheson, Barratt (Pennington 46), Seed, S. Hardy, Bourne, O’Donnell, Flynn, Savage, Manning (Emery 75), N. Forster, Adams (Westerman 60).
Subs not used: Kirby, H. Forster.
