International football at Ewood

12 April 2014

England and Scotland schoolboys played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in front of over 2,000 fans at Ewood Park.

The English Schools’ FA Under-18s, who sit top of the table, dominated the first half and opened the scoring on 19 minutes from the penalty spot. Daniel Bruce was brought down in the box and Andrew White made no mistake from 12 yards.
Scotland, who will share the Centenary Shield if they beat the Republic of Ireland on April 24th, rallied after the break and scored a deserved equaliser on 63 minutes when Scott Hynd’s deflected shot looped into the back of the net.
The visitors almost won it late on when Scotland substitute Jai Quitongo was played clean through, but he fired agonisingly wide, as both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.
