Injury boost for Saturday

24 April 2014

Gary Bowyer hopes to welcome at least three players back into his squad for Saturday's trip to The Valley.

Michael Keane, Lee Williamson and Tom Cairney have all returned to training today after missing the 4-2 win over Birmingham City with knee, neck and groin injuries respectively.

Tommy Spurr and Ben Marshall remain doubtful for the match against Charlton Athletic, whilst David Dunn, Dickson Etuhu and Adam Henley are ruled out.

"Lee Williamson, Micheal Keane and Tom Cairney all joined in training today so we'll see how they are tomorrow," revealed the manager.

"David Dunn is still not quite right, and neither is Dickson, but it is pleasing to have the three of them back and it obviously gives us a problem for Saturday.

"Tommy Spurr didn't join in today so we'll see how he is tomorrow, Ben Marshall joined in for part of the session, he isn't far away now, we'll just see how he goes over the next couple of days."

The Rovers boss will also leave it as long as possible to see if Jason Lowe will be fit to face the Addicks. The manger was full of praise for the way the midfielder played against Birmingham City, particularly after playing through the pain in the closing stages at St. Andrews.

"I thought Lowey on Monday was magnificent, his energy levels and his performance was terrific," added Bowyer.

"It was a bit of a bad blow that he took, but credit to the lad he knew that we had made all the substitutions but he wanted to stay out there and help us so full credit to him.

"We'll see how he is in the morning."
