Every goal is special

3 April 2014

Whilst Jordan Rhodes was delighted to reach the 50-goal mark for Rovers, he was disappointed that it didn't ensure victory.

Rhodes' brace at Ewood Park on Tuesday night against Brighton took the 24-year-old to 50 goals in a Rovers shirt, but that landmark was tinged with sadness that they couldn't hold on for all three points.

"It was a very good feeling and at the time I hoped it was going to be a big penalty in our season but it wasn't to be," Rhodes told Radio Rovers on Tuesday.

"Last week we came off with a 3-3 draw in dramatic circumstances and this week we've come off with a 3-3 in dramatic circumstances again, but not in the way we would have hoped."

Rhodes 50 goals have come from just 89 appearances, with the hot-shot delighted with how his time at the club has gone so far.

"It has gone better than I could have imagined to be honest," added Rhodes.

"To reach 50 goals. I saw in the programme before that David Dunn had reached 50 with his goal at Watford, so I was thinking maybe tonight could be a special night if we got the three points, it is just a shame that we couldn't hold on.

"I enjoy every goal that I score, especially in games that you go onto win. When you pick up the three points you particularly remember them to be even more special.

"I enjoy every one and it is a pleasure to play for Blackburn Rovers and pull on that shirt."

Rhodes and Rovers are back in action this Saturday when Ipswich Town are the visitors to Ewood Park. Tickets are currently on open sale priced from £15 Adults, £10 Seniors and £5 Juniors. Book online today at
