Ready to go

14 September 2013

Club captain Scott Dann will tell Rovers' new recruits what to expect at Turf Moor later today.

After experiencing the last two East Lancashire derbies himself, Dann is one of a handful of players who know what the match between Blackburn Rovers and Burnley is all about.

"I played in the two games last year but there are quite a number of players who have come into the squad who haven't been in this situation before," explained the defender.

"Obviously it is a big game for everyone involved with the club and all the fans and I think going into a game like this everyone needs to know what they are up against.

"That is probably mine and a couple of the other lads jobs to tell them. Come Saturday lunchtime they'll all be ready to go."

Dann is no stranger to a derby atmosphere, having played in the second city derby when at Birmingham City against Aston Villa.

"It is the same in most derbies, there's a big rivalry amongst the fans and you only ever enjoy these games if you win and that is what we've to make sure we do on Saturday," added Dann.

"We are going into the game knowing that we need to win for everyone involved with the club.

"Personally in the lead up you approach it the same way as any other game, you make sure you do the same things you normally do, to get yourself right and be professional.

"Come the morning of the game you obviously get a bit more of a buzz knowing it is a local derby and it is going to be a great atmosphere there.

"We've got two tough away games coming up now and we need to try and get as many points as we can from those games to keep the points tally ticking over."

Tickets are no longer on sale for the game but fans can watch the match in Blues Bar, or listen online via Rovers Player.
