West Ham United u18s 3 Rovers u18s 3
Rovers' Under-18s put in a spirited display to come from two goals down to claim a share of the points at West Ham.
The Hammers lead 3-1 at the break, but Rovers rallied well in a 3-3 draw on Saturday.
It was the home side who started the brighter of the two, Jordan Brown taking advantage of a defensive mistake to open the scoring on 8 minutes.
Five minutes later and West Ham's lead was doubled, Djair Parfitt-Williams emphatically volleying home.
On 21 minutes Rovers pulled a goal back in similar fashion, Brice Wassi grabbing his first of the season with a superb first-time shot from the edge of the box from Sam Joel's cross.
However before the break the Hammers' two-goal lead was restored thanks to Kieran Bywater's finish.
At the start of the second half Rovers came out with renewed enthusiasm, Brice Wassi was inches away from grabbing his second of the game but his thunderous shot cannoned off the crossbar.
A second Rovers goal arrived soon after however as a Yeray Torres free-kick couldn't be held by the West Ham goalkeeper and defender Liam Langford was on hand to score his first Rovers goal to make it 3-2.
With ten minutes remaining the comeback was complete when Rovers were awarded a penalty after Jack Doyle was brought down in the area from Callum Harris's cross.
Jordan Preston took the honours and made no mistake from 12 yards for his 5th goal in three Academy appearances this term.
Both sides had opportunities to claim the win in the closing stages but the neither goal was troubled as the game ended an entertaining draw.
"In the first half West Ham were much the better side, we seemed to still be on the coach, we started really slowly and deserved to be behind," said coach David Lowe.
"Thankfully we improved in the second half and showed a great amount of desire and application to get back into the game and I think we deserved our draw."
