Gary Bowyer believes that David Dunn can still play a huge part in this Saturday's derby even though the player will miss out through injury.
Dunn had to have minor surgery on a knee problem earlier this week, ruling him out of the chance to face old foes at Turf Moor, but he won't be missing the match.
"David is good, he's in good spirits, the operation was a success and he's already walking around without crutches which is positive," said Bowyer.
"He aggravated his knee on Monday in training and we were fortunate that we could get him in on Tuesday and he shouldn't be too long. We'll be welcoming him back as quickly as possible.
"Even though he is not going to be on the pitch he is still going to be playing a massive part because the game means so much to him and his experience in these games will be invaluable to us.
"He is going to play a massive role and we'll to tapping into him to share his experience with the younger ones because it is a young squad and a young team that we have and his words of wisdom will prove valuable."
Tickets are no longer on sale for the game but fans can watch the match in Blues Bar, or listen online via Rovers Player.
