Rovers Ladies will be looking to book their place in the last four of the Lancashire Women’s Challenge Cup when they take on Blackburn Community Sports Club this weekend.
The quarter-final tie will take place at QEGS, Lammack, on Sunday November 17th, kick-off 1pm.
Interim manager Gemma Donnelly is confident her young side will have enough quality to avoid an upset against the lower league opposition.
“Blackburn Community Sports Club have been quite generous in the past for supplying us with players for our Centre of Excellence programme,” she said.
“A number of former Rovers players have returned to finish off their careers there – the likes of Vikki Eastwood, Anisha Bateman, Sammy Fleck and Sarah Walker – so we’re not expecting an easy game.
“However, we are looking forward to the challenge and it is one that we should be quite comfortable in.
“This is a competition we always want to do well in and we have a score to settle after relinquishing our stranglehold of the trophy in last season’s final.
“It is an opportunity for all of our young players to gain cup experience in a local derby and I am confident we will come out with a positive result and progress to the semi-final stage.”
Rovers hope to have further news regarding the vacant manager’s role following this weekend’s fixture.
