12 November 2013

Rovers star Josh King has withdrawn from the Norway squad ahead of their two international friendlies this week.

The forward had been named in Egil Olsen's squad for the games against Denmark and Scotland, but has remained at Brockhall for treatment after discussions between the Rovers' medical team and their Norwegian counterparts.

That leaves seven players on international duty this week as Grant Hanley, Jordan Rhodes, Anthony O'Connor, John O'Sullivan, Jordan Preston, Sam Lavelle and Dean Rittenberg have all been called up for their respective countries for international friendlies, Under-21 UEFA qualifiers and training sessions.

Hanley and Rhodes have linked up with the Scotland squad for their two friendly matches.

This Friday they take on the USA at Hampden Park before a trip to take on Norway in Molde on Tuesday 19 November.

At Under-21 level Rovers have O'Sullivan and O'Connor involved with the Republic of Ireland squad for their two UEFA qualifiers.

This Friday the Irish face the Faroe Islands in Sligo before they travel to Podgorica to take on Montenegro on Tuesday.

Academy strikers Jordan Preston and Dean Rittenberg have also received country calls.

Preston will join up with the Scotland Under-19 squad for a two-day training camp on November 16th & 17th, whist Rittenberg has been included in an England Under-18 squad for the first time, they have a training camp at St. Georges Park from November 17th-19th.

Also joining up for an international training camp is defender Sam Lavelle, he is with the Scotland Under-18 squad for their two-day camp this week.
