Gemma Donnelly insists Rovers Ladies are in a buoyant mood ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash at home to Sporting Club Albion.
The interim manager was able to run the rule over her full complement of players – as well as some new faces – in a practice match in midweek and says that spirits are high going into Sunday’s game.
“We’re really looking forward to it and it should be a good test,” she said.
“We played a really competitive pre-match friendly during the week, against Liverpool Feds, who were great opposition.
“It gave me and AJ (Amanda Goodwin) the opportunity to see the squad as a whole and use some trialists, and we are confident going into the game.
“We feel tactically astute ahead of the fixture and the team feels like it has got something to prove. We have prepared them as best we can, the players feel confident in themselves and that has boosted morale.”
Kick-off at AFC Darwen’s Anchor Ground on Sunday is at 2pm. All supporters are welcome.
