Grit and determination

29 November 2013

Gary Bowyer wants Rovers to turn last week's first half display against Reading into three points at home to Leeds United this Saturday.

Rovers' opening 45 minutes merited more than the one point earned a week ago, with the manager feeling that if the same spirit and endeavour is shown against the Yorkshire club this weekend then a full haul of points will surely be taken at Ewood.

"In the first half of last week we were excellent and we should have won the game in the first half," said the Rovers boss.

"We displayed a bit of grit and determination to make sure that we took the minimum of the point.

"All too often I've seen it over the years that we might have lost that game in seasons gone past, but the character and the mentality that we showed was excellent and we are going to need that again this week because Leeds are in good form.

"They are sixth in the league but if we beat Leeds then we'll be only three points behind them and that is the craziness of the Championship.

"You look at the results last week, there were so many draws and then the odd goal was winning a game, so it just goes to show you how tight it is all along."

Tickets for Saturday's match are currently on sale to database members priced from £19 Adults, £12 Seniors and £7 Juniors. Book online today at
