Three get game time

26 March 2013

Rovers trio Jason Lowe, Anthony O'Connor and John O'Sullivan all played their part for their respective countries on Monday night.

Midfielder Jason Lowe played the full match for England at Brighton's AMEX Stadium as Stuart Pearce's outfit brushed aside Austria's Under-21s 4-0.

The victory saw the three lions extend their winning run to nine matches with a comfortable victory over nine-man Austria.

Jonjo Shelvey, Josh McEachran, Marvin Sordell and Connor Wickham netted as Stuart Pearce’s side also kept another clean sheet against an Austria who had a player sent off in each half.

Over in Ireland, the Republic's Under-21 side were defeated 2-1 by Portugal at Oriel Park.

Anthony O'Connor played the full match at centre back, whilst John O'Sullivan played the second half as Portugal scored two goals inside the hour to put them in control.

Ireland pulled a goal back with 20 minutes to go but despite plenty of effort they were unable to grab an equaliser.
