Michael Appleton felt that the display of the three second half substitutes was the only positive on an otherwise disappointing day at Ewood.
The Rovers boss threw on Adam Henley and gave debuts to Cameron Stewart and David Jones in a triple change at the beginning of the second half with Appleton pleased with their contribution.
"It was good to come away with a little bit of positivity because the subs that came on were magnificent," the manager told Radio Rovers.
"Adam Henley hasn't had a lot of football lately but he did ever so well, David Jones got himself a goal but more importantly he won every second ball, he was positive, he looked to play and was always on the front foot.
"With Cameron as well he's got great feet and is very quick. Every time he gets the ball the crowd come alive and so are our players as they expect him to do something on the ball.
"That is the positive going into the Bolton game."
Tickets for Tuesday's match at Bolton are on open sale. Prices are £15 for Adults and £5 for Seniors and Under 21s.
