Best delighted to be back

9 March 2013

After making his long-awaited return to action on Tuesday night, Leon Best can't wait to make his first start in a Rovers shirt.

The 26-year-old striker made his Rovers debut some eight months after signing for the club from Newcastle United due to a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained in pre-season.

Now after getting his first taste of match action for Rovers, Best wants to kick on and do his best for the club for the remainder of the campaign, starting with the FA Cup quarter-final against Millwall on Sunday.

"It was unbelievable, it was a long time waiting," said Best of his return. "And now I've got my opportunity to start.

"I'm over the moon, i'm delighted to be back and what a massive game it is.

"I feel it of the boys as well as the fans and I'm delighted I'm back, hopefully we can kick on."

The Rovers striker believes that this season's FA Cup run can provide the impetus for the remaining matches of the league campaign.

"It is good that we can get a bonus out of it, it hasn't been the best of seasons for us with the high expectations we had," added Best. "So we need to get something positive from it.

"If we get through to the next round of the FA Cup it could kick us on in the league.

"With the squad we've got and the club it is, we'd all like to be in a better position, we all feel that we should have done better and been in a position to go back up.

"We've got players who have been out who are now starting to come back, we've a strong squad and when we are all back we'll be a hard team to handle."

Tickets for Sunday's cup tie will be on sale at The Den from the North Stand ticket office from 12 noon.

Prices are £20 for Adults, £11 Seniors aged 60 and over, £10 for Juniors under 16.

Supporters who are unable to get to London to watch Rovers in action can see the game live in Blues Bar or online on Rovers Player.
