Rovers can confirm that Premier League side Everton will provide the opposition for the showpiece friendly at Ewood Park ahead of the 2013-14 Championship campaign.
The prestigious pre-season fixture will take place on Saturday July 27th, kick-off 2pm.
The game against the Toffees, who finished sixth in the top flight last term, will be new boss Gary Bowyer’s first home game in charge since taking over the managerial position permanently last month.
The exciting Ewood encounter marks the return of the once annual ‘curtain-raiser’ fixture, which falls just a week before the big Championship kick-off on Saturday August 3rd.
The game completes Rovers’ domestic summer schedule, which starts with a trip to Wrexham on Saturday July 6th (kick-off 3pm).
Following a training camp in Portugal, Rovers return to face Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road on Tuesday July 16th (kick-off 7.30pm).
Gary Bowyer's side then head to Rochdale on Saturday July 20th (kick-off 3pm), before making the short journey to local rivals Preston North End on Tuesday July 23rd (kick-off 7.45pm).
Ticketing details for the Everton fixture will be announced in due course.
