Manager Gary Bowyer will take a strong squad to Wrexham tomorrow for Rovers’ first pre-season friendly of the summer.
The Rovers boss insists he will treat the game primarily as a fitness exercise, but hopes the players can still produce a positive performance.
“We’ve been back for just over a week now and we’re ready for a game,” said Bowyer.
“It will be a good game for us and the lads are excited, because that’s the best part of pre-season.
“All players don’t like the running, but they love playing football and we’re excited to see what kind of perform they can produce.
“The main aim of it will be for the players to get their timings back and get a feel for the ball again, and, most importantly, the fitness element of it.
“With it being the first game, the plan is to have two teams of 45 minutes each, just so we can look after them properly.
“Chris Neville (Head of Sports Science) and the medical team have done a fantastic job so far in terms of preparation. All the players have come back fit and well, and have looked good in training. We just need to see them now progress into the games.”
Rovers will be without Paul Robinson (back) and Dickson Etuhu (knee), who are both making good progress in their recovery from long-term injuries, whilst Lee Williamson also misses out with a back problem.
Supporters who haven't yet purchased their tickets for this Saturday's match at Wrexham can do so on the day.
Gary Bowyer's new-look squad get their pre-season preparations underway in earnest with the game at the Racecourse Ground, kick-off 3.00pm.
Tickets are priced £10 Adults, £5 Seniors 60 and over, £5 Under-21s and £2 for Under-16s, and will be available from Wrexham via turnstiles 1-4 in the Yale Stand.
