Teamwork reaps it's rewards

2 January 2013

Colin Kazim-Richards has dedicated his man-of-the-match award to the rest of the squad after Tuesday's 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

The forward played a key role in ensuring Rovers kicked off 2013 in positive fashion, finding Morten Gamst Pedersen who crossed for Jordan Rhodes' goal, before starting and finishing the move that saw the Turkish international grab Rovers' third.

"It has been a long time coming," Kazim-Richards told Radio Rovers. "I've been on the road back to fitness for a little while.

"I got the man-of-the-match but what a team effort, balls cleared off the line by Murph, headed balls won by Grant and Scott, Adam Henley, Martin and what a save by Jake.

"It was a real team effort, I won the man-of-the-match but it is dedicated to everybody.

"I also want to say congratulations to Gary Bowyer as well. He has come in with Terry and done an unbelievable job.

"Training has been fun and he's come in and he wants us to play with the ball, to play out from the back and let us be free.

"It has been a pleasure to work with him so far."

Back-to-back wins has seen Rovers move back up the table, with Kaz firmly believing that the team can now press on in their pursuit of at least a play-off place.

"We've 35 points with a game in hand, if we win our game in hand we'll be two points off the play-off places as it stands right now," added the striker.

"I think that if we keep going out and playing with the positivity that we have then hopefully we'll be on the right path.

"We have a team full of winners, we just need to get that feeling back and the last two games it has been unbelievable getting that feeling back.

"The best teams know how to win, that is what we have to do."

Rovers are back at Ewood Park this Saturday when they entertain Bristol City in the third round of the FA Cup. Tickets are on sale with prices starting from £10 for Season Ticket Holders. Book online at and collect your tickets on the day of the game.
